“The world belongs to those who let go.” - Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Late in posting, due to winter storm.

Yesterday in Austin for a Chianti class I was putting on for the trade. Great crowd, young trade folk and some of the brightest sommeliers in Austin were on hand to gather insights about Sangiovese, etc. Really happy we did it, even with the crazy weather heading towards Texas. Thanks, all who came.

Last stop in downtown Austin, we had to taste and spit in a hurry as Winter Storm Cleon was bearing down on Texas. At the Austin airport, our 4PM flight changed to 5PM, and was cancelled. Then we were told to wait for another flight at 6PM, which may or may not leave. With a Friday AM class in Dallas waiting for me, my colleague and I decided to rent a car and “git” to Dallas on our own.

Good move as the storm was moving not too fast but inevitably heading towards home. We got there before the brunt of the storm hit us. Just in time.

It reminds me of the retro-TV show, The Outer Limits and the eery opening they devised for their show.

"There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to – The Outer Limits."

The view from my "office" window today
Dallas, and Texas in general, doesn’t do too well when storms like this bring ice. So we are all working from home today and dealing with it.

Not my usual kind of posting. I have a few posts in the hopper waiting to come up. In the meantime, brrr, it’s cold here. Soup kind of day.

Soup's on...

Buon weekend y’all.
